Junior School (Prep to Year 6): Where Learning Starts Strong

Our youngest students’ learning is focused on developing skills essential for their education, such as social and emotional development, play, oral language, literacy, and numeracy.

At Mancel College, we are experts in supporting students with Language Disorder to learn and thrive.

Our specialised classrooms involve teachers and therapists working together to support our learners. Examples of this unique learning environment include teachers and allied health professionals collaborating in daily literacy lessons (Sounds Write), provision of multimodal learning opportunities, and enhancing the language learning environment through the use of Key Word Sign and integrated access to augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.

Our education team recognises the unique strengths and needs of all our learners and works in partnership with their families to create engaging, targeted, individualised learning plans.

Learning encompasses all areas of the Australian Curriculum, including English, Mathematics, Science, Human and Social Science (HASS), the Arts, Health and Physical Education (HPE), and Technologies. All students are supported in accessing the curriculum through evidence-based teaching and therapeutic strategies within and beyond the classroom.

Parent Testimonial

“Lucy started at Mancel College in 2022 at Prep. We were unsure how Lucy would go at the school. We had a few options in regards to schooling for Prep. Once approved at Mancel, we made the plunge and committed to enrolling Lucy to see how she would go. It didn’t take long to see the benefits. It’s an establishment dedicated to education, matched with therapy and continual support. All this in a welcoming and holistic environment for the kids and parents. As the months rolled on, we saw progress step after step, Lucy’s skills improving and watched her grow as a person. We are very thankful to the staff and school and everything they have provided to let Lucy be the best she can. We look forward to more years at Mancel and seeing Lucy grow strength to strength!”
