What is DLD Day?

DLD Day is a day celebrated world-wide, dedicated to raising awareness for Developmental Language Disorder, educating the public, and providing families with resources and the support to assist their needs.

This year, Mancel College are celebrating at Lone Pine Koala sanctuary and providing an exclusive family offer to experience the sanctuary Friday 16th October.

Understanding Developmental Language Disorder

Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is a common but little-known condition that affects how children learn, understand and use language. It is not linked to intelligence, children with DLD are just as bright as their peers. They simply process language differently.

For a child with DLD, following instructions, finding the right words, or making sense of a story can take enormous effort. This can affect confidence, friendships and learning across every subject, not just English.

The good news is that with early identification and specialist teaching, children with DLD can flourish. Understanding is the first step, and that’s exactly why Mancel College exists.
